You can make Loop Hero run faster by editing a file

I’ve been playing Loop Hero for a few days now and watch my little hero march on a racetrack that is the last fragment of a forgotten world, automatically fighting vampires and goblins while I tinker with his equipment and the landscape around him. In our 83% rating, Evan Lahti summed up the appeal of Loop Hero as follows:

“It’s a style of play that has something to do with the so-called idle and clicker games that have emerged in recent years and the 2012 Half-Minute Hero. It’s a nice format and perhaps Loop’s biggest hit Hero. ” is that it is a home in that middle zone between watching, planning, and acting. “

One point of criticism I have about Loop Hero is that, despite the option to double the speed that is switched on, it goes quite slowly. However, this can be fixed. Open the variables.ini file in your Steam / steamapps / common / Loop Hero directory with a text editor, look for the value game_speed and turn it as high as you want. The default is 60, so increase it to 120 or 240 and watch these loops fly by.

Note that while the achievements are still showing, at the bottom right of the screen where the version number is usually listed, INI HAS BEEN CHANGED and there may be other implications – some players say the Treasury Department paid out fewer resources when it did is surrounded. Since you get gargoyles this way, skipping the treasury might not be a huge loss depending on your play style.

There are other optimizable variables there as well, although the notes are all in Russian. Since I just don’t have to watch fights with slimes and a treasure chest play at the same speed every time, I haven’t tinkered with anything else.

If you need help with actually playing the game, here is our Loop Hero guide.
