Delve into the Gates of Oblivion – The Elder Scrolls Online’s new year-long saga – PlayStation.Blog
Explore a new zone and story with nearly 18 million adventurers in The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood, which launches June 8th on PlayStation 4 and is available now for Pre-order. In Blackwood, a diverse region home to both ambitious Imperials and the mighty Argonians, you will investigate a dark conspiracy that threatens this unique land and uncover the Daedric forces that are influencing the events of Oblivion itself.
“Blackwood is a melting pot of cultures,” said Rich Lambert, ESO Creative Director. “It extends from the southern tip of Cyrodiil, with its highlands and moors, and extends east to the swampy borders of Shadowfen. Imperials and Argonians have clashed in this region for centuries, and we’ll examine the history of it in this chapter. “
The Blackwood Chapter is part of the year-long adventure Gates of Oblivion and a vital part of this year-long saga that will run through 2021. Of course, you don’t have to have completed any of the previous content to enjoy the A stand-alone story found in Blackwood as you battle potential tyrants and unravel Daedric manipulations.
“This year the story we’re telling is essentially about a deal with the devil. A long time ago, the Longhouse Emperors made a pact with Mehrunes Dagon, and it’s up to the players to find out what’s going on and how to keep their plans from coming to an end. “
As you play 800 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, there are some parts of Blackwood that you may be familiar with and some parts that are brand new if you’ve played the classic Elder Scrolls game.
“As with Greymoor last year, there are both familiar and unfamiliar places between ESO and previous Elder Scrolls games as things are obviously a little different on our timeline. Dagon hasn’t quite figured out the “science” behind creating the Oblivion Crisis, but you can tell he was busy trying! “
“In Blackwood, the city of Leyawiin is the central hub, and the rough layout is that of TES IV. As you move east through the zone, you’ll also discover Gideon – a city that has been around since The Elder Scrolls: Arena in 1994 Has not been seen in an Elder Scrolls game. “
In addition to this new zone and storyline, Blackwood is also introducing the new Companions System, which allows you to team up with a unique NPC, equip them, learn their stories, and fight together. You will never have to fight alone again.
