Rashida Tlaib made remarks suggesting that “freedom of speech for Muslim women does not exist in Congress,” according to The Blaze.
“There is no freedom of speech for Muslim women in Congress. The benefit of the doubt does not exist for Muslim women in Congress. The Democratic leadership in the House of Representatives should be ashamed of their relentless, exclusive audio surveillance of colored congress women. “
Fox News reported: “Tlaib and Omar were the first Muslim women to be elected to Congress in 2018 and, along with other members of the Israeli progressive troop, were more critical, particularly during the recent 11-day conflict with Hamas that left more than 250 dead, the vast majority of Palestinians. “
“On Monday, Omar sparked outrage after telling her own 1.2 million Twitter followers,” We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity. We have witnessed unthinkable atrocities committed by the US, Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan and the Taliban. I asked @SecBlinken where people should turn for justice. “
“It is embarrassing for colleagues who call me when they need my support to make a statement now and ask for ‘clarification’ instead of just calling.”
“The Islamophobic tropes in this statement are offensive. The constant harassment and silence by the signatories of this letter is unbearable. “
From The Blaze:
Left-wing extremist Democratic MP Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) Told her 1.4 million Twitter followers on Thursday that “there is no free speech for Muslim women in Congress” after her Muslim colleague Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) Faced a backlash against her own party after appearing to equate the US and Israel with terrorist organizations earlier this week.
Tlaib, who is a household name along with Omar after numerous controversial statements and membership in the progressive “cadre” of Democrats in the House, tweeted:
Omar’s remarks were sharply condemned across the political spectrum, including at least a dozen Democrats in the House of Representatives. The Minnesota representative then elaborated on her comments while hitting her Democratic counterparts for challenging them.
On the same day, Democratic leaders, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D), issued a joint statement saying “There is no moral equality between the US and Israel and Hamas and Taliban,” adding that they “welcome” Omar’s clarification.
The House Progressive Caucus issued its own statement in defense of Omar. The message written by Chairman Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) Reads:
Rep. Omar is an esteemed member of the Progressive Caucus. Your voice is critical and necessary, both in the House Foreign Affairs Committee and in the House of Representatives democratic caucus as a whole.

We cannot ignore a right-wing media chamber that has deliberately and routinely attacked a black Muslim woman in Congress, distorting her views and intentions, and threatening MP Omar and her staff. We urge our colleagues not to support or reinforce such divisive and bad faith tactics. The members of the democratic caucus owe it to each other to pause, reflect, and come into direct contact with one another when misunderstandings arise, and to stand together against cynical attempts to split our caucus.
